Does Scent Control Clothing Work?

Scent control clothing can be an effective tool for reducing human odor and helping hunters remain undetected by deer and other animals. These garments are typically treated with antimicrobial agents or made from materials that are designed to absorb and control odor. The goal is to minimize the amount of human scent that reaches the animal’s nose, making it less likely that the hunter will be detected.

However, scent control clothing is not a foolproof solution, and it should be used in conjunction with other scent control practices to maximize its effectiveness. Some additional scent control strategies include:

  1. Shower with a scent-free soap before hunting.
  2. Washing hunting clothes with scent-free detergent and storing them in scent-free bags or containers.
  3. Using scent-eliminating sprays on clothing, boots, and gear.
  4. Minimizing contact with strong-smelling substances, such as gasoline or food, before and during the hunt.
  5. Paying close attention to wind direction and adjusting your hunting strategy accordingly.

By combining scent-control clothing with these additional practices, hunters can significantly reduce their chances of being detected by animals with a strong sense of smell. Keep in mind that no scent control method is entirely foolproof, and environmental factors can still impact the effectiveness of your scent control efforts.  See my 26-Step Scent Control Routine here.
